It is an honor to announce that St. Croix Montessori won second place at the 2017 St. Croix Agricultural Festival. Several students in the lower and upper Elementary class entered the Farm Animal Frenzy competition, which challenged them to make a Crucian animal, scaled-to-size, completely out of recycled, reduced, and repurposed materials.
Our students chose a peacock. They researched facts about peacocks (and peahens), brainstormed how to create the artistic representation of the peacock, and collected recycled materials. The peacock used paper towel rolls, milk gallon jug, fabric and paper scraps, wire hangers, and even test-tube tops!
The students won both a rosette and prize money, which they will accept at an awards ceremony.
The elementary class would like to offer Mr. Joseph Gell, Ms. Niarus Walker, and Ms. Ana Asad a special thank you for all their hard work and for helping the elementary students.
In addition, please pass on your congratulations to our students who participated in the Shoebox Float competition. Keren and Nailah each received a Honorable Mention for their representation of “Agriculture: Our Heritage And Hope For The Future.”
Thank you for your support of our bright, young students!
